Flauguissimo Duo - Lunchtime Concert

The Lion Hotel, Shrewsbury

The French and British Gardens

Nature has long been a great inspiration for composers, especially since the Age of the Enlightenment, when the vogue for birdsong and portraits of flowers were at their height.

Flauguissimo Duo presents a selection of flute and theorbo music by French and English composers from the Baroque period, including pieces by Oswald, Basanti, Hotteterre, Roman and Couperin.

Yu-Wei and Johan specialize in historically-informed, lively and exciting interpretations of a wide variety of music from the 18th and 19th centuries, in the intimate setting of flute and theorbo/guitar as it flourished in the salon culture throughout Europe at that time.

The Duo has already won many prizes in prominent competitions, played in a wide variety of Festivals including Stratford, King’s Lynn and Utrecht, and in venues in this country and abroad such as the Albert Hall, King’s Place and BBC Proms Cadogan Hall.

Flauguissimo Duo - Lunchtime Concert

“Lively, distinctive playing by a rarely heard combination of instruments with excellent historical pedigree...” - National Centre for Early Music

"Magical playing from this delightful duo – the salon atmosphere created could be from the pages of Thackeray’s Vanity Fair itself....This album is a joy to listen to from start to finish.” Classical Music Magazine
