What’s on this 2026-27 season

To mark the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death, the Carducci will play three quartets from different moments in his career: the luminously exuberant Op. 18, No. 1; Op. 95 ‘Serioso’ (‘Oh, life is so beautiful, but for me it is poisoned forever’); and  Op. 59, No. 2, one of the group of pieces commissioned by Count Razumovsky (‘Beethoven was, as it were, cock of the walk in the [Count’s] princely establishment; everything that he composed was rehearsed hot from the griddle and performed to the nicety of a hair’).

Described by The Strad as presenting ‘a masterclass in unanimity of musical purpose, in which severity could melt seamlessly into charm, and drama into geniality’, the award-winning Carducci Quartet is internationally acclaimed as one of the most accomplished and versatile ensembles of today.
