Claudio Monteverdi’s famous 1610 Vespers never fails to astonish. Written on the cusp of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, it dazzles with vocal and instrumental virtuosity, burns with fervent devotion, and invites us into its intimate, sensual solos, duets and trios.
